AUSTRAC Targets 50 Crypto Providers in AML Crackdown

The Australian Transaction Stories and Evaluation Centre has warned cryptocurrency exchanges and remittance suppliers to observe anti-money laundering legal guidelines or face the implications.

In a press launch assertion revealed on its official web site, the company revealed that it’s now reviewing over 50 suppliers and lately took motion in opposition to 13 of them. In keeping with AUSTRAC CEO Brendan Thomas, the company canceled, suspended, or refused to resume the registrations of 9 suppliers late final 12 months.

This was after they did not adjust to the Anti-Cash Laundering and Counter-Terrorism Financing Act. Thomas added:
