Apple Faces Lawsuit Over Alleged Bitcoin Wallet Scam

Apple is going through a lawsuit from three clients who say they misplaced a mixed $1.8 million after downloading a faux Bitcoin pockets app from the App Retailer.

The grievance, filed Friday within the US District Courtroom for the Northern District of California, alleges Apple didn’t adequately evaluate and monitor apps regardless of selling the App Retailer as a trusted market, in response to a duplicate of the submitting obtained by MacRumors.

The plaintiffs, James Ramirez, Christopher Ellis and Jalen Delgado, stated they entered their seed phrases into the fraudulent app, permitting scammers to switch their Bitcoin. They reported losses of about $875,000, $840,000 and $120,000, respectively, throughout 2025, in response to the grievance.

Sparrow Pockets is on the market on Home windows, macOS and Linux. Its developer, Craig Uncooked, has beforehand criticized Apple over faux variations of the app showing within the App Retailer. The pockets has no official iOS app.

Apple instructed MacRumors that it has eliminated apps impersonating Sparrow Pockets and terminated developer accounts linked to these apps. The corporate stated builders and customers can report apps that violate its tips, including that it takes motion towards apps that don’t adjust to App Retailer guidelines.
